Customer Success Story
SPORT 2000
In this customer success story, learn how the retail cooperative SPORT 2000 provides its members with automated online shops through which they can showcase and sell their products and services.
Combining the strengths of the cooperative network with the benefits of individual online presences? Achieved with Platoyo in just four months.
"The automated online shops are a very important omnichannel tool for our sellers to independently have a digital presence." Michael Decker, Former Managing Director of ANWR Media
Initial Situation
SPORT 2000 is part of the ANWR Group eG, one of the most successful and highest-grossing retail cooperatives in Europe.
SPORT 2000 at a glance
- 22 countries
- 35,000 employees
- 3,500 stores
- Sectors include Bike, Fitness, Lifestyle, Running, Outdoor & Ski
- Part of the ANWR Group
SPORT 2000 already has a very powerful collective online shop for its retailers at www.sport2000.de.
However, the sellers wish to have an additional online shop with their own content and individual domain.
Therefore, the management of the retail cooperative wanted to provide its members with a system that allows each seller to operate their own online shop without having to forego the network and the power of the retail cooperative.
Requirements
For the project implementation, there were three specific requirements:
- The online shop system should be centrally set up and maintained. An individual implementation for each seller using common shop systems is not sensible.
- The product data will be provided through the central data pool of ANWR. Inventory and prices per seller will be derived from the already existing data streams.
- The members should not have any technical effort with their new online shop.
Implementation
-
Implemented with minimal resources: The project was carried out by just one product owner on the client's side. For Platoyo, only a project manager and an additional data manager were involved, who configured the connection of the individual inventory management systems and the product data API.
-
Launched in just four months: The project was completed within four months. The multi-shop platform was ready for boarding and branding within three days.
-
The product was named avendu for internal and external communication.
-
High interest: The project was presented to the sellers and partners at in-house trade shows. There was a great deal of interest.
-
Inventory management systems: The ERP systems primarily included IPOS, BITS, HIS, ETOS, Advarics, and Globalsys. The product data was sourced from the existing data pools of schuhe.de and sport2000.de via API.
-
Individual presence: The chain stores among the SPORT2000 partners received an online shop that also displays the locations, inventories, and prices of the various branches.
-
All-in-one service: The client wanted not just Software as a Service (SaaS) but even Business as a Service (BaaS): Platoyo also takes care of the legal operation of the platform, ensuring data protection, accounting, and support for the sellers.
-
Lean organization: This ensures that the retail cooperative is not burdened with new overhead issues.
-
Focus on the essentials: The retail cooperative can fully concentrate on internal marketing towards its partners and members.
-
Direct transaction processing: Although a central platform provides the online shops, the purchase contract is made directly between the seller and the customer.
-
Payment: The payment options are configured centrally and uniformly for all sellers. The clearing, meaning all settlements and money transfers, is carried out autonomously and automatically by the system.
-
Strong support: Members can dial into daily online office hours with the support team or schedule individual appointments.
-
Orders are processed through the in-house order management system, Qualibet.
-
Social media integration: Sellers who are also active on Facebook or Instagram can now directly import their products via their own product feed. The platform automatically provides the necessary links. Training videos from the support team demonstrate how to set up the integration.
"The IT behind such a multi-shop platform is very complex. Yet, I hardly notice it. I can fully concentrate on my main tasks: sales, marketing, and seller support."
Jacqueline Reiling, Product Owner ANWR
